Black Walnut is a beautiful hardwood that is very strong and durable, yet light in weight. It is perfect for gun stocks and gun handles. Easy to carve, it can be worked into comfortable shape to fit the hand or shoulder. The surface will not dent or mar.

The American black walnut tree has a nasty habit. It is a poisoner of other trees! The mature tree produces a mysterious substance called juglone in its roots. Neighboring trees, including its own offspring, but especially apple trees, often die from this apparent toxin.
